Course Description: 
Children and young people are among the vulnerable groups during crisis situations and their psychosocial needs must be addressed in order to prevent the long-term negative impacts of such crises. Early mental health and psychosocial support after a crisis is important to enable a speedy recovery, promote resilience, and prevent problems among children and youth. This one-day training program introduces the basic principles, guidelines, and skills in providing MHPSS for children and youth during crisis situations. It equips the participants with the skills and competencies to engage in community based MHPSS programming for children and young people. Participants will learn about MHPSS, guidelines for community based MHPSS for children and youth, PFA for children, psychosocial activities for young people, and referral systems and mechanisms.
