Course Description:
Case formulation and treatment planning are two of the core competencies that psychologists, guidance counselors, and other mental health professionals should possess, as both case formulation and intervention planning are essential towards the delivery of an effective psychotherapy, counseling, or psychological intervention program. Case formulation is the process of integrating psychological assessment data and case history to develop a biopsychosocial conceptualization of an individual’s psychological, interpersonal, behavioral, or emotional problem. It aims to lead to an informed decision regarding the treatment to achieve the desired outcome goals. As such, case formulation serves as a step between psychological assessment and intervention planning. This one-day training program is designed to provide psychology professionals with the knowledge and skills in case formulation and treatment planning. It will include a discussion on the biopsychosocial model, the 4Ps of case conceptualization, the steps of case formulation, and using case formulation to guide intervention planning.
