Course Description:
Diagnosing mental disorders is an essential skill that psychologists should possess; while understanding the process of diagnosis, the value of psychological assessment in diagnosis, and using diagnoses as basis for intervention planning
is a critical skill that mental health professionals should have. In a study of Yan et.al (2022) found out that the rates of misdiagnosis of patients with mental disorders ranges from 39.16% to up to 97.18%. Misdiagnosis can greatly harm clients as it prevents them from getting the appropriate treatment/intervention. Such errors in diagnosis are highly preventable due to existing diagnostic criteria and standards. This four-hour online training program aims to equip participants with the skills in conducting differential diagnosis using the DSM-5-TR. Participants will be able to apply these skills in their assessment practice and in developing intervention programs for their clients, whether in the clinical or counseling settings.
